The Pre Prep

Ashdown opened its doors in September 2013 to its first pre preppers. The 6s (as they have come to be known) are looked after by Mrs Clarke, the former head of pre prep at Fonthill Lodge. After a couple of excellent years within the main school building, they moved to wonderful new premises - still in the grounds but very much their own 'space' and fantastically situated so they can benefit from all our facilities.

As well as all the normal lessons they enjoy all the benefits of being in the heart of a busy prep school. Swimming, dance, tennis, music, games and drama are all part of their extra curricular programme – as well as adventures in the 40 acres of school grounds (you would need to be relaxed about often collecting a muddied child at the end of the day!).

The 6s day begins at 8.45 am ,when they join the older children’s assembly, and ends at 3.20 pm. Lunch is taken with the younger prep school children (the 4s & 5s) which provides both age groups with valuable social involvement and the prep school teachers are very much involved with them – for instance the headmaster takes their RS lessons and the Head of French (a native speaker) gives them lessons each week.

The school welcomes children of Reception age and older - do get in touch for further details.
